Workshops

Workshops are usually held for 2 to 3 days but can be customized to suit the needs of different groups.

Rep weave variety | 1–2 days
Learn about the wonders of rep weave. Set up a loom with a sampler, given in advance, and explore the many ways to weave a good piece of rep weave. Drafting and color designs will be presented.

Exploring rep weave and related warp faced weaves | 2–3 days
In this round robin workshop, participants will learn the many applications of rep weave. Every loom will be set up in advance with a different draft, variety of warp material, sett and technique. We will study each sampler, through drafting and color interactions and discuss the many applications possible. A large selection of finished pieces will be available for individual study.

Classic and Non-traditional Rep Weaves | 2–3 days
This round robin workshop, explore both classic and nontraditional methods of rep weaving. Every loom will be set up with a different draft, variety of warp materials, sett and technique. Some samples will be inspired by weave structures such as Shadow, Krokbragd, Honeycomb. Each draft will be study in details through drafting and color interactions. A special time unit will be set aside to learn pick up design in rep weave. Students will go home with a complete portfolio of samples. Participants will be contacted 2 months ahead.

Mini Workshops

Colors, design and basic drafting will also be presented. A set up loom will be available to demonstrate the pick up technique.

Books, bags, boxes and beyond | 3 hours
This program review the fundamentals of rep weave and its characteristics. The linear design of rep weave lends itself to 3D constructions. Participants will learn the best way to weave a firm warp faced material in order to build unique pieces. We will talk about special materials used in the construction, as well as finishing and embellishment. Each participant will receive a bag containing all the necessary elements to finish the session making an "etui.

Lectures

Lectures range from one to two hours long.

Weaving Rep Weave
My personal journey into discovering Rep weaves – from the first placemat of 30 years ago, in simple blue and white to my three-dimensional pieces and installations of today. With the help of many samplers and finished weavings we will trace my progression into refining rep weave, adding more colors, adding more blocks, combining blocks and experimenting with pick up design.

Rep, Rips, Reps: All you wanted to know about rep weave.
This talk and presentation is going to provide an outline of my book on rep weave and describe the process of assembling it. The book is the culmination of 35 years of experience using this technique. We will discuss the progression of complexity from 2 to 8 harness as well as the many different applications, functional or decorative.
